The 825 km Camino Pilgrimage – wearing the Align Footwear insoles in his boots!

When Peter Remmen from Hasselager near Aarhus in Denmark completed the Spanish pilgrimage, the Camino, it was with insoles from Align Footwear in his boots every step of the way, i.e. 825 kilometres ….

It was not pain that inspired Peter Remmen to try out a pair of insoles from Align Footwear. He became aware of the Align Footwear insoles at a health fair in Aarhus which he attended in the spring of 2015.

“I have always had problems with my heels. When I was offered to try out the Align Footwear insoles for up to 60 days, I decided to give them a chance. Perhaps they would do something good for the heels of my shoes? Already within the 30 minutes I tried out the insoles during the fair, I could feel the difference”, says Peter Remmen.

Today, Peter Remmen wears the Align Footwear insoles in all his shoes. At work as an IT employee, on the bike to work and when he’s off work….. “I can feel that I am now walking more aligned and am stepping on the entire surface. I’ve got a totally different posture and walk”.

The insoles became therefore a natural part of the hiking challenge, which Peter Remmen had decided to complete: he trained a lot – and completed – the so-called “Camino pilgrimage”, a pilgrimage in the northern part of the Iberian Peninsula. He began the pilgrimage in the French mountain village of Saint Jean Pied de Port. “ You get such a nice nature experience over the Pyrenees”, he says. The tour ends approximately 800 km to the west of the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. “It was originally my father’s dream to walk the Camino. Unfortunately, he did not manage to do so before he fell ill and died. Therefore, I promised myself that I would complete the trip for him”, says Peter Remmen.

He trained 300 km before the end of September, and five weeks later, he walked a total of 825 kilometres – the huge distance of the “Camino pilgrimage”, wearing the Align Footwear insoles in both his hiking boots and in his extra shoes. “I had a strain injury in one foot before I went to Spain. Therefore, I felt a lot of pain in my left heel. Every day I could, however, walk with the insoles for more than 20 km before the heel began to hurt. If I had not had the Align Footwear insoles in my boots and shoes, I would probably not have been able to move my body after having had a bath, made the laundry and having food in the evening”, says Peter Remmen. In this way, the insoles were very important for Peter Remmen in order to complete the tough Spanish walk. “As regards my bad heel, I was certainly dependent on the Align Footwear insoles on this trip….just as much as I have it every day at home now. The long damaging load of the heel had developed into a heel spur, which the Align Footwear insoles help against. Besides that, the insoles result in the fact that my shoes are less worn and thus last longer”.
